Here we present a selection of the golf courses that are on offer to you.
GOLF AROUND LAKE COMO
Lake Como is perhaps the most famous of the Italian lakes and some say the most beautiful. Once the golf is complete you could put this to the test as you enjoy one of the more popular pastimes in any lakeside town – a stroll along the boardwalk watching the boats whilst taking in the stunning scenery.
This is both an area of outstanding natural beauty and a very elegant popular retreat for visitors from all over the world. There is much to see and do locally between your rounds of golf, such as a guided sightseeing boat trip around the lake, visit Como city and ride it’s famous funicular railway.
Take an Italian cookery class or visit the many museums & galleries in the region or perhaps just relax & soak in the atmosphere.
Milan is a great day trip for the favourite pastime of all, shopping & for the more culturaly adventurous a visit to Verona for an evening at the Opera.!
Golf Villa D’este
Par 71 and 6,331 yards this course has gained a reputation for being one of the toughest courses in Italy. Winding its way through pine, ash and chestnut trees, the course presents spectacular views across Lake Montorfano.
Golf Club Lecco
The Lecco course is a modest 6,202 yard par 71 on mostly level fairways laid out in a forgiving design with some cheeky water hazards around some greens. The views of Mounts Grigne and Resegone are simply stunnning and you can enjoy excellent cuisine at the 19th hole.
Golf Club Carimate
Just a short journey from the grand prix racing circuit of Monza, Carimate is not unlike the famous Wentworth course in Surrey. At 6,397 yard and par 71 the course is well bunkered with rolling hills, natural plateaus, soft contours and rhododendrons, azaleas, oak and conifer all framing a selection of holes of a very playable layout.
La Pinetina Golf Club
18 miles north of Milan this championship course which will test the full extent of your game, it is well presented with undulating fairways of crisp turf and manicured greens. Magnificent panoramic views are on offer along with a good restaurant and excellent clubhouse.
Golf Club Monticello
Golf club Monticello hosts two fine 18 hole championship courses, the “rosso” and the “blu”. At 7,010 yards and par 72 the “rosso” course has strategically placed water hazards and is beautifully framed by gorgeous trees and the mountains beyond. At 6,456 yards and par 72 the “blu” course is also highly regarded although a measured more precise game rather than long powerful shots is required on this course.
Menaggio & Cadenabbia Golf Club
Located along the eastern shore of Lake Como, tight fairways, steep terrain, mixed woodland and compact greens could well make this the prettiest and trickiest 5,998 yard par 70 course you are ever likely to encounter anywhere in the world!!
GOLF AROUND LAKE GARDA
The Garda Lake is the largest lake in Italy. The scenery is so beautiful as to inspire artists like Catullus, Dante Alighieri, Goethe, Byron and Stendhal and a stay here is to renew ones mind and body. A number of small cities face the lake – Desenzano, Sirmione, with the Rocca Scaligera and Grotto of Catullus, and the Gardone Riviera with the D’Annunzio Vittoriale, with its magical Art Nouveau buildings, all of which deserve a visit once the golf is exhausted.
The golf around Lake Garda is many and varied, from the scenic and simple to the water bound and card wrecking.
Franciacorta Golf Club, the wine golf course offers 3 loops of nine: Brut – requiring precision and tactics to score well, Saten – needs every club in the bag to tackle tricky doglegs, water hazards and some very long holes, Rosé – Expect undualting fairways and large greens with some serious slopes.
Palazzo Arzaga – a 15th century palace converted into a 5-star Golf & Spa Resort. Sitting between Milan and Venice two magnificent course are available – the 18 hole Jack Nicklaus Course, host to the 2008 Italian Seniors Open, makes the most of the hilly countryside separating Lake Garda and the foothills of the Alps. The 9 Hole course designed by Gary Player enjoys the same scenic views but don’t lose your concentration…..
Chervò Golf Club. 36 holes split into 4 loops – nine of which are executive standard, and 27 championship standard.
Garda Golf Club. 27 holes nestled between the Rocca di Manerba, Soiano Castle and the Valtenesi hills, offer an extraordinarily beautiful panorama. Cypresses, olive trees, centuries-old oaks, pines and holm oaks complete the setting.
