Play the finest courses with Gastro Golf . . .

  • Durban Golf and Country Club

    Par 72  Length 6,730

Steeped in tradition and history the Durban Country Club has the unique claim of being the only course on the African continent to be rated in the Top 100 Golf Courses of the World.  A combination of lush vegetation, sand dunes and stunning views of the Indian Ocean make this course one of the most unique, and challenging in the world.

One of the defining characteristics of Durban Country Club are the massive undulations in the fairways, the course was built on sand dunes and they are large and interesting.

The opening holes are narrow so most golfers leave the driver in the bag until they’re warmed up.

  • Arabella Golf Course

Par 72 par Length  7,019 yard

Bordering the largest natural lagoon in South Africa and overlooked by the Kogelberg mountain range the Arabella Country Club provides both a wonderful golf challenge and an eye- catching landscape.

It was named the best new course in South Africa in 1999 by Golf Digest, and it has kept up the high standard ever since.

The 18th is regarded as one of the best finishing holes in South Africa – a testing par-five, it features a very long bunker down the right. Slice your shot beyond it and you could find the lagoon or do you go for it and end one’s round in glory.

  • Stellenbosch Golf Course

Par 72 par Length 7,189 yards

This championship parkland course is set in a stunning location in one of the most attractive destinations on the Cape. Host to a number of high profile South African tournaments including the South African Masters, Stellenbosch Golf Club carries a reputation indeed.

Protected from the wind the golfer will need an accurate game to find the relatively narrow fairways lined with numerous tree types. Surrounded by mountains and vineyards, Stellenbosch Golf Club presents a fair challenge with some memorable holes and the chance to enjoy an excellent 19th hole.

  • Gary Player Course

Par 72 par Length 7,810 yards

Arguably one of the most famous courses in South Africa, the Gary Player Golf Course at Sun City is continually ranked as one of the best in the country. Host to the Nedbank Million Dollar Golf Tournament, this 18-hole course is both demanding and picturesque with some claiming it to be the toughest course in the Southern Hemisphere.

Although the parkland layout is fairly flat, many water hazards, cunningly positioned bunkers and hidden pin placements make it a fantastic test. The course is immaculate with wide Kikuyu fairways bordered by thick bushveld offering a real feature to the layout.

  • The Links Course at Fancourt

Par 72 par Length 7,183 yards

For a great test of golf in stunning surroundings, The Links Course at Fancourt is hard to beat. Host to the President’s Cup in November 2003 it presents a unique golfing experience, that is in the same league as some of the best links golf in the likes of Scotland and Ireland.

It is however one of the most difficult tests of golf in South Africa so carry more balls than usual and be patient – The Links was never meant to be a low scoring, target golf course. Thankfully this golf course provides some of the best caddies in the country to guide you round.
