Italian Lakes

About the location . . .

Lake Como is perhaps the most famous of the Italian lakes and some say the most beautiful.

Once the golf is complete you could put this to the test as you enjoy one of the more popular pastimes in any lakeside town – a stroll along the boardwalk watching the boats whilst taking in the stunning scenery.

This is both an area of outstanding natural beauty and a very elegant popular retreat for visitors from all over the world. There is much to see and do locally between your rounds of golf, such as a guided sightseeing boat trip around the lake, visit Como city and ride it’s famous funicular railway.

Take an Italian cookery class or visit the many museums &  galleries in the region  or perhaps just relax & soak in the atmosphere.

Milan is a great day trip for the favourite pastime of all, shopping & for the more culturaly adventurous a visit to Verona for an evening at the Opera.!

Food and wine . . .

Away from the lake’s more bold and glittering tourist towns such as Bellagio (pop. 3000) and Menaggio (pop. 3200) is the picturesque & quaint village of Varenna (pop. 800). Nowhere else on Lago di Como brings you so close to the peace & tranquility of the lake, with delightful terraced cafes and restaurants perched right on the water’s edge along Varenna’s picturesque lakeside promenade.

Golf in the Region

Excellent championship golf courses designed by the very best – Jack Nicklaus, Pete Dye, Gary Player and Robert Trent Jones – are yours to enjoy and savour before sampling the delights of the lakeside towns where the scenery will simply take your breathe away.

Gastro Golf will be delighted to help plan and book any of these activities, which are additional to your golfing itinerary.
